Seaside, Oregon

Dedicated to my mother and to our shared love of this place.

Program Note:

Many times through my life growing up in Portland my mom and I would take a road trip to the Oregon coast in Seaside, a cute tourist town about 40 minutes south of Astoria. My mother and I share a deep love and fascination for this place, and one particular memory I have contains small, snippet moments that well encapsulate my personal relationship with Seaside, Oregon. The first is the car ride to the coast. You can see the fog from the weather camping around the needles of fur trees and opening up to the coastal sprays of mist at the promenade. The second is a tandem bike ride offered by a local bike store that we had found the time to enjoy. The third being a cinnamon sugar pastry called an “Elephant Ear,” sold by a local shop.
